Several Raglan Under 14’s players are celebrating a double tonight after Monmouth Comprehensive’s Year 9 team won the Newport Schools Cup. A superb volley from Raglan’s Sid and a free kick from Ioan combined with a strong defensive performance to ensure the victory.

It comes less than a month after the team won their division in their last game of the season, leaving the team with plenty to celebrate.

This season is particularly impressive as the under 14s had a number of new players join, as well as a new coach, and it’s a measure of the boys’ attitude that what should have been a year of rebuilding, and getting to know each other, has proven to be the team’s most successful season so far!

This also goes hand in hand with Raglan’s Under 12’s success in their first competitive season, coming joint top of their division. Added to this the news that Raglan JFC will also be starting the club’s first senior women’s team, and with more players and age groups than ever before, next season should be one to look forward to for Raglan.

Let’s hope the trophy cabinet is big enough!
