Raglan JFC raising awareness of Heart Health in Gwent

This February 2025, we are supporting Cardiac Rehabilitation Week and Heart Month. Along with our women’s team sponsor, Gwent Cardiac Rehabilitation trust fund, we are dedicated to raising awareness about heart disease and promoting heart health within their community.

Cardiac Rehabilitation Week and Heart Month

Cardiac Rehabilitation Week, observed from February 9-15 2025, aims to highlight the importance of cardiac rehabilitation in reducing the harmful effects of heart disease. Heart Month, celebrated throughout February, focuses on raising awareness about heart and circulatory conditions and promoting healthy lifestyle choices.

As one of the UK’s leading causes of death, heart and circulatory diseases impact millions of lives. Together, we can take simple steps to make a difference. Diet, exercise and stopping smoking all have a positive impact on your risk of developing heart disease!

Here at Raglan JFC our players already compete against some of the best teams in Monmouthshire and across South Wales, plus we were lucky enough to have an insightful talk about nutrition and exercise from a NHS Dietitian. Plus smoking has been banned from pitch sides for over 5 years.

The Impact of Heart Disease

• Over 7 million people in the UK are living with heart and circulatory diseases.

• Globally, heart and circulatory diseases are the world’s biggest killers.

• Tragically, 12 young people under the age of 25 in the UK lose their lives each week to sudden cardiac death.

The clubs dedication to promoting heart health and by leveraging the power of sport, we hope to make a positive difference in the lives of those affected by heart disease and contributing to a healthier future for all.
