Raglan JFC is proud to share the success of a brilliant community effort that has brought new life, colour, and biodiversity to our community. Thanks to a generous donation from Keep Wales Tidy, and the hard work of volunteers from the village, Raglan Sports Association, and our own club families, we’ve taken a big step toward creating a greener, more welcoming space for everyone who uses the site.
Last week, volunteers of all ages came together to plant native saplings, install protective guards, and help establish what will become a thriving natural area for players, supporters, and wildlife alike. From digging and staking to assembling new seating and improving the surrounding environment, the project has been a true community collaboration.
A Gift That Will Grow for Generations
Keep Wales Tidy’s support has enabled us to expand our green footprint and contribute to the wider Back to Nature movement happening across Wales. Their donation of trees, materials, and guidance has empowered our community to take ownership of the space and create something lasting.

We’re incredibly grateful for their partnership and for the Welsh Government’s continued commitment to environmental wellbeing.
“It’s been great to see so many people come together—children, parents, coaches, and local residents—to create something that will benefit the whole village,” said one volunteer during the planting session.
“Projects like this remind us that football clubs are more than pitches and goals—they’re about communities ,” added another.
Community Spirit in Action
Across the planting sessions, we welcomed volunteers, including young players eager to get stuck in. Their enthusiasm and teamwork made the work fly by, and the sense of pride at the end of the day was unmistakable.
We’ve captured some of before‑and‑after photos, quotes, and participation numbers to share with Keep Wales Tidy as part of their monitoring and reporting. These moments also tell a powerful story of what can be achieved when a community comes together with a shared purpose.

What’s Next?
This is just the beginning. As the saplings take root and the new seating area becomes a favourite spot for families and players, we’ll continue to monitor growth, maintain the site, and look for new opportunities to enhance our environment.
Raglan JFC is committed to being a club that champions sustainability, community involvement, and pride in our shared spaces. A huge thank‑you to everyone who rolled up their sleeves and made this project possible.
Together, we’re building something beautiful—on and off the pitch.
