CHAMPIONS! Service station fuels Under 14’s success

The team celebrated in the traditional way, with bottles of (non-alcoholic!) wine.

Raglan Under 14’s are celebrating after confirming their league title with a win in their final match of the season.

Head coach Mike Hall said he’d been more nervous than the players during the week.

“My wife was laughing at the fact I was so jittery on the morning that I couldn’t eat my breakfast!”

Those nerves started to settle after an early goal by top goal scorer Ioan and after that they maintained their lead despite a couple of near misses from the opposition.

After the match, Mike was keen to stress how important every player’s contribution – large or small- had been, with almost the entire squad of 18 getting time on the pitch.

“I wanted everyone to know we wouldn’t have this opportunity without every player being part of Raglan.”

Phil Bevan only started coaching the team this season after moving to the area.

“It’s been great to have this success in my first year at the club.

“I was proud of how the boys played on Sunday. It reflected how well they’ve played all season.”

As well as the coaches and the players the club wouldn’t exist without the support of the community.

Raglan football club would like to thank Raglan Fuel Station.

The business has been selling petrol and diesel in the heart of the busy village for just over a year now, but generously sponsored the team’s kit for this season.

That support has been vital to the team this last year.

Here’s to the next season!
